1.Who we are
Tin Websites is a trading name of Tom Gray, a sole trader based in the United Kingdom. We're not VAT registered, so there's no VAT on our prices. What you see is what you pay.
Get in touch any time at hello@tinwebsites.com.
2.What you're buying
A “tin” is a website we build from the details you give us, plus an ongoing monthly subscription that keeps it online: hosting, security, backups, your domain and a set number of change requests.
| Tin | Pages | One-off | Monthly | Change requests |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| The Tin | 1 page | £295 | £15 | 1 change a month |
| The Proper Tin | 5 pages | £595 | £25 | 1 change a week |
| The Big Tin | Up to 12 pages | £995 | £35 | 1 change a month |
The free preview is exactly that: free, and you're under no obligation to buy.
3.Paying
- Every tin is an upfront one-off payment plus a monthly subscription.
- Your first payment covers the one-off and your first month. After that, the monthly fee is taken automatically on the same day each month until you cancel.
- Payments are handled by Stripe. We never see or store your full card details.
- You can update your card and download invoices from your manage link at any time.
4.Going live
Once your payment has gone through, we register your domain and put your site live on it. That's the “live in 15 minutes on your chosen domain” bit.
You're responsible for the content you give us (words, photos, videos, logos): it must be accurate, legal and yours to use, and it mustn't infringe anyone else's rights. We can refuse or remove content that breaks the law or these terms.
5.Domains
- Your domain is included in the price when its first year costs under £20. At checkout we only offer domains that meet that rule.
- We register the domain for you, through Cloudflare Registrar, with you as the named owner (registrant). That's why we ask for your name, address and phone at checkout.
- It renews automatically while your subscription is active, at our cost.
- You can't bring a domain you already own. Every tin comes with a new one we register for you.
- If you cancel, we switch off auto-renew and help you move the domain to your own account or another registrar. From then on, renewing it is up to you.
6.Change requests
Once you're live, you can ask for changes from your manage link: The Tin: one change a month, The Proper Tin: one change a week and The Big Tin: one change a month.
Months are calendar months and weeks run Monday to Sunday (UK time). Unused changes don't roll over. We can undo your last change if you ask.
7.Upgrades
You can move up to a bigger tin from your manage link. You pay the difference in the one-off price straight away, your new monthly fee starts immediately, and the difference for the rest of your current month is charged at the same time.
8.Missed payments
If a monthly payment fails, we'll email you a link to pay. If it's still unpaid 7 days after the failed payment, your site is suspended until it's paid. If Stripe can't collect the payment after its retries and the subscription ends, we treat that as a cancellation (section 9).
9.Cancelling
- Cancel any time using the manage link we email you. Lost it? Get a new one at tinwebsites.com/manage/login.
- Cancelling takes effect immediately. Your subscription stops, and your site comes down straight away. There's no grace period, and no refund for the rest of the month you're in.
- We email you your site's files (a zip) so you can host it anywhere, and we hand your domain over to you (section 5).
10.No refunds
Every tin is a custom project built for you, so payments aren't refundable once made. The details, including your rights as a consumer, are in our no-refunds policy. It forms part of these terms.
11.If you're a consumer: your 14-day right to cancel
Most of our customers buy for their business. If you buy as a consumer (not for your business, trade or profession), the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 normally give you 14 days to change your mind about a service.
At checkout you ask us to start building your site straight away, and you confirm that you lose that right to cancel once the site is built and live (when the service has been fully performed). If you cancel within the 14 days and before your site is fully built, tell us at hello@tinwebsites.com. We'll refund what you've paid, minus a fair amount for the work done up to that point. Your right to cancel the monthly subscription at any time (section 9) is not affected.
12.Who owns what
Your content stays yours. You give us permission to use it to build, host and run your site. The site files we send you when you cancel are yours to use for your business however you like. Our factory, templates and tools stay ours.
13.Keeping things running
We host on Cloudflare and work hard to keep your site up, but no service can promise 100% uptime. We may need to do maintenance or make changes to keep things secure. We can suspend a site that's being used for anything illegal, harmful or abusive.
14.Our responsibility to you
- Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law doesn't allow us to limit.
- If you're a business: we aren't liable for lost profits, lost business, lost data or indirect losses, and our total liability is limited to what you've paid us in the 12 months before the claim.
- If you're a consumer: we're responsible for loss you suffer that was a foreseeable result of us breaking these terms or not using reasonable care and skill. This doesn't affect your legal rights, including your rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.
15.Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. If a change affects you materially, we'll email you before it takes effect, and you can cancel if you don't like it.
16.The law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales can hear any dispute. If you're a consumer living in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you can also bring a claim in your local courts.
Got a problem? Email hello@tinwebsites.com first. We'd much rather sort it out properly.
